Mount Richthofen, located in the Rocky Mountains mountain range, is a notable peak in Grand County, Colorado. Standing at an impressive elevation of 12,945 feet, it offers breathtaking views and challenging terrain for mountaineers. This prominent mountain is part of the Never Summer Mountains, which are known for their rugged beauty and diverse wildlife.

During the winter season, Mount Richthofen experiences varying snowpack levels. Snow accumulation can range from moderate to heavy, making it an ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts. The mountain's snowpack not only contributes to its scenic appeal but also provides critical water resources for surrounding ecosystems and communities.

Several creeks and rivers benefit from the runoff originating from Mount Richthofen. The Cache la Poudre River and Colorado River both receive water from this majestic peak, contributing to their flow and creating opportunities for fishing, rafting, and other recreational activities.

The mountain was named after Baron Ferdinand von Richthofen, a German geographer who extensively studied the geography and geology of the American West during the late 19th century. It is worth noting that Mount Richthofen is not associated with the famous World War I flying ace, Manfred von Richthofen (the Red Baron), despite the similarity in their names.
