Volga River State Recreation Area camping area is situated in the breathtaking surroundings of northeast Iowa, just outside of Fayette. The area is known for its outstanding natural beauty, with the Volga River winding its way through the park and providing a tranquil and serene setting for campers.
The area is surrounded by several points of interest, including the historic town of Elkader, which is known for its unique architecture and charming downtown area. The town of Strawberry Point is also located nearby, which is home to the world's largest strawberry monument.

An interesting fact about the area is that it was once home to a bustling lime kiln industry, with huge kilns used to manufacture lime for use in construction and agriculture.
